About Eckert & Co.

Brief History

J. K. Eckert & Company, Inc. (E&C), was founded in 1988 by Jeff Eckert to provide "total concept" book production services. Over the years, the company has produced more than 400 books for McGraw-Hill, the IEEE Press, Van Nostrand Reinhold, Butterworth-Heinemann/Newnes, CRC Press, and others, primarily in electrical engineering fields but also in healthcare, agriculture, chemical engineering, and other disciplines. In the last two years, E&C has also produced nearly 100 general-interest titles (e.g., history, philosophy, fiction, poetry) for several imprints.

E&C originally was based outside the Washington, DC, beltway, but in 1995 Eckert decided to relocate to the Sarasota, FL, area and pursue a less hectic lifestyle. The company operates entirely over the Internet, having abandoned corporate offices and the associated structure and overhead in favor of telecommuting and flexible work hours. The future has arrived.
